NSLSC swim hats/beach caps

Swim hats/beach caps - these are mandatory for the pool.

Senior section key holders

For full paid up seniors (annual membership) with the required Level 2 board/swim competence or Lifeguard/saver qualification to pay a deposit for a key (£20). Holding a key requires the person to the follow the rules which are on the door in the clubhouse…. Sign in/out, empty bin if needed, ensure the clubhouse is secured, report any damage etc. A number of weighted boards will be left in the clubhouse to borrow at Fistral. So there is no need to access the store. Boards must be back in the clubhouse for sessions (Monday, Tuesday night and Sunday morning during the summer season and as required by section managers, such as competition time). We are awaiting the keys to be cut, so once we have them these will be ready for issue and the boards will be put in place. We are having 10 keys cut as a trial but if there is higher take up we’ll expand this.

Waiting List

Please select year of birth of the child being signed up on the waiting list on the drop down. This is to join Sandhoppers (5-7) and Nippers (7-12). If spaces are available for you child’s age group you’ll be contacted so please keep your email up to date. Sandhoppers do not require a trial. Nippers are required to have swimming ability for age 7-9 at least 50m with a good stroke and for age 10-12 at least 100m with a good stroke. Nippers will be trialled before joining. During the summer training is on a Sunday morning at Fistral or another Newquay beach. In the winter training is pooled based and we have to fall in line with pool availability. Fees are set at an AGM each year.

Level 1 Coaching Course 2024

Level One coaching course for those wanting to gain a qualification and help our nippers get the most from the training. It will involve theory and practical components, the theory will take place on 28th April and then the remaining practical elements over the subsequent two or three weeks during the nipper sessions. The club is happy to pay for this course, on the understanding that if you then are unable to commit to helping regularly (and that doesn't mean every week!) for at least a year you will be liable to refund the club the cost. Some understanding of surf life saving as a sport is required, so if your nippers are brand new (and didn't do sandhoppers) then waiting until next year maybe beneficial. You will need to be signed up as a volunteer member with the club, this fee covers your slsgb membership and insurance. You will need to have a DBS check carried out by the club prior to starting the course so signing up means you consent to this process starting. Any question please do ask myself or Kass.
