Senior section key holders

For full paid up seniors (annual membership) with the required Level 2 board/swim competence or Lifeguard/saver qualification to pay a deposit for a key (£20). Holding a key requires the person to the follow the rules which are on the door in the clubhouse…. Sign in/out, empty bin if needed, ensure the clubhouse is secured, report any damage etc. A number of weighted boards will be left in the clubhouse to borrow at Fistral. So there is no need to access the store. Boards must be back in the clubhouse for sessions (Monday, Tuesday night and Sunday morning during the summer season and as required by section managers, such as competition time). We are awaiting the keys to be cut, so once we have them these will be ready for issue and the boards will be put in place. We are having 10 keys cut as a trial but if there is higher take up we’ll expand this.

Please select year of birth of the child being signed up on the waiting list on the drop down. This is to join Sandhoppers (5-7) and Nippers (7-12). If spaces are available for you child’s age group you’ll be contacted so please keep your email up to date. Sandhoppers do not require a trial. Nippers are required to have swimming ability for age 7-9 at least 50m with a good stroke and for age 10-12 at least 100m with a good stroke. Nippers will be trialled before joining. During the summer training is on a Sunday morning at Fistral or another Newquay beach. In the winter training is pooled based and we have to fall in line with pool availability. Fees are set at an AGM each year.

Yellow Competition Vest

All Nippers/Youth/Open/Masters will need their own competition vest to participate in any beach competition (Cornish and nationals) Size Small (Younger/smaller nipper) Size Medium (Older nipper/youth) Size Large (Youth/Adult) The vests are meant to be tight and not loose so I don’t recommend buying something “to grow in to” it needs to fit now. They can easily be sold on to other members in the future. Racer Back design. Competition race vest are mandatory for all SLSGB competitions. This vest is made from high quality Flexcite which is a Lycra/Nylon mix

Nipper trials Autumn 2024

Children born in 2015/2016/2017 will need to swim 50m front crawl with good technique. Children born in 2012/2013/2014 will need to swim 100m front crawl with good technique. Please be aware the nipper pool sessions are an hour long so a certain degree of stamina is needed alongside the swimming technique. Nippers isn't meant to replace swimming lessons but to work alongside them. Please choose the correct drop down box for your Childs year of birth. Unfortunately we are full for girls born in 2012 so please don't sign them up. Please turn up ready to swim, with goggles, swimsuits/trunks (ideally jammers rather than loose board shorts). If your child is offered a place in nippers, training will be Sunday afternoons at Waterworld during the winter pool sessions, and Sunday mornings on Fistral beach during the summer season. We ask for a commitment to attend at least 70% of the available sessions as we are a very oversubscribed club.
